High SCHOOL (grades 9-10)
At the high school level, children need to gear themselves for the ICSE public examinations. Sufficient care is taken in this regard at AVRS, with a well laid out routine of unit tests, end-term examinations and practice examinations. This is the stage at which students must learn the quality of rigor - in answering a question, in writing a character sketch, in arguing for a position, in presenting a viewpoint, and in assessing the relevance or accuracy of an expressed view. It is also the stage at which students become aware of how the media operates, and what are the issues and complexities of their own country.
At AVRS, the teaching methodology for High School focuses on rigor in writing and thinking, and seeks to raise students' levels of consciousness with regard to environment, fundamentalism and other such matters, to ensure they are articulate, knowledgeable and self-confident individuals who can make a difference in society.
