What is the teacher- student ratio?
The high staff-student ratio will be ( 1:10 ) to ensures personal attention. The Full time faculty members staying on the campus will help plan and supervise the after-school and extra-curricular activities and look after the general needs of the students. The faculty will also undergo es regular development programmes to update themselves.
What about the quality of teaching staff?
Our staff is selected on the basis of their educational qualifications, relevant experience, and their attitude towards learning & and learners. They should also have a firm belief in our the stated mission and philosophy of AVRS. How many children will there be in a class?
Each class will have not more than 25 students. The small class size to enables the teachers to provide personal attention to students.
Are students provided with counseling and career guidance?
Career guidance and counseling are very much a part of the curriculum and are woven into the curriculum along with development of career skills.
When do the academic activities of the school begin?
The new academic year will begin in the first week of June/July 2006.
Does the school admit students mid-year?
Yes. Amber Valley has three terms
- 1 st Term : June – October
- 2 nd Term: November – January
- 3 rd Term: January – March
We admit new students during every term.
What board is the school affiliated to?
The school is affiliated to The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi that offers the ICSE certification. English is the medium of instruction and English is to be studied as the first language. The options for Second Language are Hindi/ Kannada is to be studied as the second language, and the options for Third Language are Hindi/Kannada/Sanskrit. Sanskrit is to be studied as third language by those who opt for Kannada/Hindi as second language.
Computer education is compulsory for all students from Grade 1 on upwards.
What happens to NRI /Overseas students who don’t know h Hindi/ k Kannada or Sanskrit?
They have the option of taking French as their language.
Note: Since the the Third Language is not tested in compulsory for the Board examination, it is ok and the language lab will train the students in third language skills; it is a requirement only till Grade 8.
How does an ICSE graduation prepare my child for further education overseas?
Large numbers of Most schools affiliate to either the CISCE or the CBSE boards as both are all-India boards (with the main office in New Delhi Head Office) and their public examinations are considered a benchmark all over the country.
The standard of CISCE or the ICSE is higher than that of CBSE in subjects like, particularly in English, and the level of Mathematics is at par with that in IGCSE International graduate degrees (Britain)
In terms of preparation for education overseas, CISCE is better than CBSE, and both are much better than any of the State Boards.
We would like some more information on the ICSE examination . ?
The CISCE (Council for Indian School Certificate Examination) holds two
all-India examinations - the ICSE, for standard 10, and the ISC, for standard
12, both in English medium.
The ICSE (Year 10) examines students in seven papers - English, Social
Studies (Geography, History and Civics), Second Language, Environmental Education, plus three optional papers; most students take Mathematics and Science (comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology) as two of the electives with the
third elective being could be Computer Science, or Economics, or Physical Education, etc;
there are many options available. What system of assessment does the school follow?
The system of assessment is will be both continuous and comprehensive , and will be so designed as to take into account the different aptitudes and abilities of the child. Marks are not given to children in The primary grades ( classes 1 - to 4 ; instead, ) do not have marks, they are given assigned grades marked with qualitative comments on their performance. From the 5th grade onwards, students get marked for their examinations
What is the difference (advantage) of an ICSE syallabus syllabus vis-à-vis CBSE?
An important difference between CBSE and CISCE (more popularly known as the ICSE ) is that CBSE prescribes syllab i uses for all classes, from grade 1 upwards, whereas the ICSE syllabus prescribes syllabi uses only for grades 9 and 10 (and its continuation, ISC, prescribes syllabi for grades 11 and 12). to 12.
ICSE therefore thus gives a lot more freedom to its schools enrolled under it to adapt the curriculum and the teaching methodology for students’ the benefit of the students. AVRS has integrated the ICSE curriculum with the inputs from international curricul a um and assessment techniques giving its the AVRS curriculum an international flavor.

What if my child is not a self-directed learner?
Our teaching methodology addresses all types of learners – the average, above-average and below-average. Children are given tasks and assignments based on their learning capacity. Children who are not self-directed in their learn ers ing are placed in given remedial programmes to help them cope learn better. We also have special Language and Math Labs to ensure that children learn through practical experience . This , which helps them retain the information and forms a strong foundation .
How are parents involved in the educational process?
Parents are sent printed reports constant updates as to on their child’s progress in school at the end of the first term and again at the end of the academic year. via e-mail, letters and reports.
The reports are based on inputs from teachers who interact with the child in the classrooms and dormitory on a regular basis. They reflect the performance of the student over the course of the term, and give a clear picture of his or her progress. The reports are meant to be descriptive and constructive rather than judgmental.
