PASTORAL CARE
Emotional stability is a vital ingredient for balanced growth and progress. Each wing in the two dormitories has its own Dorm Parent who provides mentoring, emotional security and counsel to the boarders. The Pastoral Coordinator has over 30 years experience as a boarding school matron and has tackled most of the problems generally faced by students living away from home.

Resident AVRS teachers have their living quarters adjacent to the Dormitories and serve as Dorm Parents; they are accessible to the students at all times. Students usually have a tight schedule, which does not normally allow for Homesickness to overcome them; but when it does happen, the Dorm Parents counsel and support them through this period.

Contact time between students and dorm parents is available every week, to sort out or discuss important issues. The AVRS children are well cared for and our teachers ensure they deal with all the problems and help them adapt to the dormitory environment effortlessly.

  • Resident Faculty Members act as Dorm Parents
  • Each Dormitory has 4 Dorm Parents - one for each wing
  • Experienced Pastoral Co-ordinator oversees all the students
  • New teachers are trained by the Pastoral Co-ordinator in Pastoral Care
  • Special Contact time between Dorm Parents and individual students every week
