- In mid-July, Colonel Chacko - an engineer parachutist spoke on Ladakh. His talk focused on the landscape, people and wild life in the region. Prior to retirement, Col. Chacko served in the Indian Army for many years, during which he traveled to many parts of the country. He took part in the 1962 war against China in Ladakh, and in the 1965 and 1971 wars against Pakistan. All through his Army life, he was able to keep his interest in birds, insects, animals and plants alive. In Arunachal Pradesh, is a place called “Chacko” - named after him! The Dalai Lama while escaping from Tibet in 1956 spent a night there.
- A classical Bharata Natyam dance recital was given on 7 th August 2005 by Ms. Rasika Khanna, a well known dancer with a distinguished and illustrious career. The dance was held in the school Library, which was done up and lavishly decorated for the special occasion. The children were thrilled at having Ms. Rasika in their midst.
- Following the flag hoisting on 15 th August 2005, a variety programme was presented by staff and students, featuring a Hindi skit, songs (including one by the teachers) and group dances. Several elocution pieces in which children described the national bird of India, the national animal, the national tree, etc were also a part of the event. An English translation of the National Anthem was presented, against a multi-media backdrop as the grand finale.
- A memorable morning assembly on art appreciation was conducted - in which children spoke about another child’s artwork looking at it from various view- points and trying to read into the artist’s mind. It was a multi-lingual assembly with children speaking in English, Hindi and Kannada and it was done with tremendous involvement and spontaneity. It gave rise to a lot of wit and laughter.
- Another memorable assembly was held on Hindi divas (day) during which children read, sang poetry and songs of various famous Hindi poets and put up short skits based on historical themes. A similar Assembly was held on Gandhi Jayanthi day, which had a play, a song and a small skit based on his life followed by a quiz on Gandhi.
