DANCE
The truest expression of people is in their dance. This expressive form of creativity has a studio located in the Art and Culture Block equipped with wall-to-wall mirrors. Dance classes form a part of the curriculum and all grades have one dance class per week in which Folk and Contemporary dance are taught.
Folk dances are a part of India's rich culture - each region has its own unique movements, music and costumes. Contemporary dance is a mix of classical, modern and western dance. These are dances relating to different moods and themes such as patriotism, revelry, environment, etc.
Children start with simple steps and eventually perform entire dances during competitions and celebratory occasions. Co-ordination of hand and leg movements, body postures, expressions and rhythmic movements are taught during dance lessons.
All students have the option of taking Dance in their Individual classes where a trained Dancer teaches them Bharata Natyam. Individual classical dance lessons in Kathak and Odissi will soon be introduced.
- Bharata Natyam taught by a Professional Dancer
- Western Dances, Folk Dances and Contemporary Dances taught
- Individual Classes for students interested in learning Dance
- Kathak and Odissi forms of Classical Dance to be introduced shortly
